It is no secret that in life, you will encounter setbacks, disappointments, rejection, and adversity. The journey towards greatness is laden with mountains and valleys that require an inner resolve that is unshakable.
We often become consumed with the pain of our problems instead of reframing our mental disposition with affirmative statements that create a positive outlook. As you examine your behavior patterns, are you able to identify broken belief systems that are producing unfruitful outcomes? How do you honestly feel about being stuck in a bed of apathy? Can you envision a more powerful version of yourself? What are you willing to depart from to guarantee undeniable change?
Begin a New Beginning.
Allow me to walk you through my personal process towards a healthier version of myself. It has been said, “You don’t have to be great to start, but you must start to be great!” I’ve been training with my husband for the past year and a half. Yet, the final area that I needed to correct was my diet. He always says, “You can’t out-train a bad diet! And, “You are either part of the problem or part of the solution!” First thing, I had to own my part and take responsibility for becoming better. I purchased a wellness journal and started documenting my food intake.
Small sacrifices lead to BIG breakthroughs. We typically work out 5-6 days a week early in the morning. If you are not naturally inclined to a certain activity, it is good to attack it first. Place it at the top of your priority list each day. Once you develop a new behavior and it becomes routine, it is time to incorporate another good habit.
Progress demands partnership.
There is a profound African proverb that expresses this concept very well, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” In this 21st century, women are leading more than ever. The wise woman who is on the rise understands that without pillars of support her infrastructure is bound to collapse under the weight of life’s demands.
Wrestle your weaknesses!
Whether you acknowledge them or not, they are ever present. As an entrepreneurial leader, I encounter constant requests that require an exorbitant amount of energy to be distributed in multiple directions. During peak stress times, my grab and go foods were sweet treats. Once I became consciously awake and decided to shift my actions I have enforced my willpower to say no for the past 65 days to any junk food. I drink only water and smoothies. I have a highly regimented diet. I am discovering how to discipline my body to enjoy low caloric and quality foods.
See it and seize it!
To reinforce my new beliefs and behaviors necessary for a breakthrough, I have images of fit females on my refrigerator, a vision board that emphasizes a lifestyle of wellness and books that provide information to retrain my brain. If you can see it, you can seize it!
Fast forward, six months from now what does the new you look like? What do you sound like? What do you eat like? What do you live like? What do you think like? Remember, what you do today, impacts tomorrow. It’s time to get real, get radical and get results!
