Between the popular social media vixens, reality stars and every magazine on newsstands around the world women are pressured into such high standards when it comes to beauty regimens. YouTube has become the new department store for women, and getting likes on Instagram is like waking through the mall on a Friday night. Unless you have a personal glam squad on speed dial, these standards can be a bit daunting to say the least. Well, let's put away these unrealistic goals of beauty and be real!! Being in the beauty industry for almost eight years has taught me a thing or two about beauty priorities or what I like to call the "The Power 5." No woman should have to apply a full face of makeup with highlight and contour, bronzer, three eye shadow shades, lip liner, lipstick-- don't forget blush, and the list goes on and on. You can still achieve soft glam or a professional clean up with just five products in 5 minutes!!!!!
Before I list off these essentials, make sure you are investing your time and money into great skin care! If your skin care is not at the top of your list, then you will need a lot more than five items as your skin mature to cover up the damage of not taking care of it.
#1 Great Brow
Ok, first you need a great brow. Now I know you have seen these mega brows walking around but don't be fooled, your eyebrows should not walk in the room before you do! A natural brow with a pencil or brow powder that compliments your hair color will do the trick.
Next on the list is concealer. No matter how good your skin is, all woman have some level of under eye discoloration. Whether it be child birth, hormones, lack of sleep, age, or an improper diet, our under eye can take a beating. Your concealer should be one shade lighter than your natural skin tone with a thin layer applied with a brush or your finger.
Once you have applied your concealer, add a few coats of mascara to make your eyes pop. Be careful not to do too many layers as this may cause clumping.
Now, add a litter color. So many women shy away from blush for the fear of looking like our grandmothers or clowns even. Finding a shade that compliments your undertone and applying just a little on the apples of the cheeks will bring color without over doing it.
#5 Lip Color
Last but not least is lip color. Here is where you get to let loose. A bold red lip for a night out or a deep burgundy or a plum lip to embrace the winter months can bring glam to a simple look. You could also pull out your favorite gloss for a soft yet full lip look.
Go try it out now... Five items and five minutes are all you need!
