Enjoy Your Season

I love the start of each season. There is always a different feel in the air. Each season brings about unique things that are pleasing and enjoyable. The same is also true for our families!

Our loved ones will go through many different seasons throughout a lifetime. Each season will have amazing things and enjoyable moments. There will also be some not so pleasant moments. We can rest assured that God has a purpose for each season that we encounter in our family life. “To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV)

At times, we have a tendency to try to rush through seasons instead of taking the time to enjoy where we are currently. When we’re single, we want to hurry up and get married. When we get married, we want to hurry up and have children. When we have children, we want them to hurry up and become a certain age, and so on. We have our schedules and timelines in our head that tell us that we have to do this by that age and do that by this age. We can become so focused and obsessed with timelines and hurrying things along that we can miss out on all the beautiful moments that God has for us in our current season.

I believe that it is important for us to take the time just to enjoy the season that we’re in currently because God has a purpose for it. God has plans for us, and if we’re rushing through life we may miss out on some valuable lessons that God wants to teach us. God uses each season to prepare for the next. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV). We have to trust that God’s plan will take us exactly where we need to go at the exact time that we are supposed to be there. Fully trusting God’s plan will allow us to rest, be content and enjoy our current season because we know that God has us and can fulfill the desires of our hearts. “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” Psalms 37:5 (NKJV)

Let’s commit to recognizing the beauty of the current season we’re in with our families. Take time to enjoy your families and cherish the precious moments that we’ve been given by God. Things may not be perfect, and you may even be in a difficult season but ask God to help you to see the purpose and know that it too shall pass. Life is short and time passes quickly, so slow down, smell the roses and enjoy your season!
