Trouble Doesn't Last Always

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell of God’s mercy and grace that He has shown on my life. God delivered me from a life of despair, rejection, low self-esteem, domestic violence, a painful divorce, a high-school dropout, a mother of six children struggling with homelessness for two years. I was lost and afraid and saw no way out, but God. There were many obstacles that was in front of me along with having a defeated mindset, it was only by the power of the Holy Spirit that led me out of the miry clay.
At 35, uneducated, underemployed, and homeless with six children I prayed that God would help me fight for my children and myself. Living in a boarded-up home as squatters, I decided to enrolled in college in 2007. The first two years were hard on us; from scrapping up money for hotels, sleeping in our car, staying in a shelter, empty apartment, with strangers and family it was almost unbearable. We were laughed at and offered very little support. I was close to having a mental break down twice, the weight of the struggle was too heavy for me to bear at times.
Nevertheless, I kept pushing in spite of the ridicule, I kept pushing no matter how many times I failed, I kept pushing for my children. Many nights I cried wondering if God heard my prayers, because my faith was getting weak. I began to think about the legacy I wanted to leave for my six children, so at our lowest moment I started doing events to love on others and to show my children the importance of serving. My legacy made an impact on them for my oldest son chose to serve by joining the Marines, my daughter became an EMT, my other daughter is in college getting a degree in Human Services. My younger two 15 & 14 have aspirations to be a lawyer and firefighter. I believe that if they could serve at their lowest, it would prepare them to be great leaders.
By 2016 by the grace of God, I had earned an AA degree in Biblical Studies., B.A. degree in Leadership & Administration, a MBA degree and went on to becoming a doctoral student. I’ve also written nine books which are listed on Amazon, and became a subject of a documentary titled “No Longer Lost”. I believe that my testimony will bless others to keep going no matter how hard it gets.
